In a world where humans and demons have long been tangled in a deep-rooted conflict and skepticism towards each other, Wei Wuxian - a child born from an unheard union of the two races, an anomaly to the world - was forced to live on the streets after the sudden, unfortunate death of his parents. He received a memento from him, yet their meeting was cut short without the two young children even exchanging a single word before they were separated.

Years passed and Wei Wuxian, now a young master to the Jiang Family of Yunmeng who saved him from a life as a tramp, was tasked with a mission to investigate the root of conflict between the humans and demons. He departed with his shidi, Jiang Cheng, to remote mountain where they were supposed to search for clues together.
