The bed is such a fucking joke. I lay awake watching the ceiling waiting on either the sun or the third big yawn. l used to work third shift and I can remember feeling like it was impossible to stay awake. Every break was spent taking tiny naps and chugging a cup of coffee strong enough to hold up the spoon. Now I'm held hostage in a power struggle between my conscious mind and the surrender of sleep.

A persistent buzz from my Pebble let's me know there's an incoming call on my cell phone strategically placed in the bathroom to charge.
"Her" scrolls across the screen.
It's 3:00am and I refuse to play into the trap being set. The buzzing stops and the back light returns dark.
