The Book of Mortality: the book which governs the schedule of life and death in the human world;  an endless void that store the souls of the departed waiting to be reborn and the System which governs the cycle of life and death. A malfunction in the current system suddenly caused a series of unscheduled deaths in the human world. The Impalers or gods of death, those who collects the soul to guide them to the Mid Horizon --- the space between the Void of Souls and the Human world, are told to strictly follow this System to continue the balance between the two worlds.
