In the summer of 1999, Grace Barrow wants nothing more than the normal life her foreign mom and mentally unstable high school teacher dad could never give her. On her 18th birthday in May, she left Pasadena, California, attempting to move to Arizona and never make contact with anyone from her previous life ever again. Grace finds herself in mid July, deep in the Mojave Desert and living in a glorified shack with five other people.
