In 1929, two years after the war broke out in China between the Kuomintang Government of the Republic of China and the Chinese Communist Party, Xiao Fang, a supporter of the Kuomintang, vowed to fight to eradicate the Communists from China.
Unfortunately, six months into battle, his battalion was attacked and defeated by the Communist Red Army and their young, ruthless Commander Wang Yi.
When a desperate Wang Yi discovered Xiao Fang was a medic's soldier, he gave him the option to aid the injured Communist soldier from Yi's battalion or face death with the surviving soldiers.
Left with no choice, Xiao Fang accepted his fate to help Wang Yi and his men.
