She doesn't know who she is or where she came from. She spends 4 years trying to figure out who she is. Until the day she meets the people who might be able to help her: The Avengers.
5 years after Nia was kidnapped she pops up out of nowhere with no memory of who the Avengers are. They'll do anything to bring back her memories and have her back home with them.
Bucky will do anything to accomplish this. And nothing, not her lack of memories or her new found family will keep him away from her.
