Starting a new life, under an assumed name and in a new town, isn't easy.

Especially when you are -- or used to be, anyway -- a world-renowned diagnostician with a somewhat checkered reputation. Even more so when you're a cripple and a recent above-the-knee amputee.

And most of all when your dead best friend suddenly starts showing up out of nowhere.
