Nicolas Nightsade was testing out his latest invention that transfers the human mind into a separate entity. whether that is a giant war machine or a video game character. He decided that before they jump to real world testing they would test it out on a game he made during his free time. Only when he did it he was trapped there by God to see the world he built and to govern over it.
