Marren showed up to Moon's Creek Orphanage in her seventh year, knowing nothing of her past or where she might have come from. Her arrival was a surprise and a mystery to those running the orphanage, but they took her in with little hesitation, having her do cleaning chores and help with the younger occupants. Nearly a decade later and she was the last one. She knew that in less than two weeks she'd be kicked from the premise by the Empire's law, and with nowhere to go and no knowledge of the outside world, she was feeling lost and hopeless. By chance or maybe fate, she was sought out as an apprentice. Now risen out of poverty, Marren is learning more about the world than she had ever dreamed... or wished to know- elves walk as men covered by glamour, the King's forge is run by an Orc, and the kitchen is spilling with the small folk. Nothing is what it seems in the Capital of the Terrmirica empire, and she's about to find out she plays a much larger role than anyone anticipated. Disclaimer: This is my original work. Eliora May, a lifetime citizen of Maplemaw, is something many women are not. Literate. An activist. But these become hard to complete as all is stripped away from her with the coming of unexpected news. Marriage and war between the faeires and elves of Ilkaphene. A land of magic, where flowers and fungi grow as tall as their castles. Where forest creatures live in harmony. A land of peace. A land where a fairy married an elf. A fairy princess marrying an elf princess at that. Eliora begins to hear rumors of the war. How it was destroying an ethereal land. And, worst of all, how women were being silenced to prevent more "corruption". As the war and its standards begin to seep into Elvangmort, changing Eliora's home into one of constrictions, hushed whispers, and worst of all, a hatred toward women, she knows that she must do something to save her freedom and the freedoms of those around her. *** This is my submission for ONC 2025!
