In a Dark 26th Century when Earth is being decimated by a series of cataclysmic super storms, diminishing civil and economic solidity. Nations that were once in league have either collapsed or been wiped off the maps entirely. In due course, desolation of economic and geological resilience would lead to the transpiration of World War III. Regime War engineers introduced biological WMD's into the playing field, but it wasn't a flesh eating bacteria, or a catastrophic nuclear arm. It was the contrivance of a super soldier known as "Starters". These soldiers experienced expedient increases in pineal performance receiving 1 or more of an array of mental and physical super human abilities. With this biological breakthrough , the Regime ended the conflict and the affair of reconciliation could begin. With the hostility concluded the Starters operation was terminated. Yet, something went wrong. The effects of a once cellular operation had become viral, passing it on to any descendants of those exposed to the genetic modifications, and even infiltrating foreign bloodlines to ensure it's survival. Once again the globe was swept with terror. Any offspring concepted with this congenital inheritance were deemed "Subhuman". Violent precautions were taken to assure that any discovered with the abnormality were located and "expunged". (This novel will tell 4 parallel stories of a Mercenary , an Orphan displaced by war , a Serial Killer and a homocidal Military A.I. as Mankind's Darkest Hour untangles.)

It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. There is nothing to fear if you don't make yourself emotionally vulnerable. James has spent the last five years helping to build up a colony of survivors. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. Her time of solitude is up. Leah sparks something in James he's never felt before. He's not letting this one get away, certainly not twice.
