Ricky Bowen is a depressed, anxious and suffering from bipolar disorder teen who has had to move schools because of his previous failed suicide attempt at his old school. He never believed in high school love. He knew he would never find a girl he likes. But when he moves, he meets EJ Caswell, the captain of the water polo team, senior class treasurer and what all the girls desire. Ricky hates jocks and people who think they are all that but when they get paired for a school project, Ricky starts questioning everything he's ever thought.
