Every year like clockwork, people from all over the east coast make the journey to go to any one of the 44 New Jersey beaches. Avalon, New Jersey is home to some of the richest of the hundreds of thousands of people that make the trip every summer. The elegant and large Victorian houses make this beach the perfect place to be over the summer... the perfect getaway. For "good girl" Bela Ahlu, summertime is the worst time of year. Summertime for others might mean a getaway, but for her it means work. But Bela cannot get upset about this, because she has her family's entire business, reputation, and livelihood at stake. Bela promises that there will be no distractions from her work and her college applications this summer, but little does she expect to meet the biggest distraction of her life, once again. Zain Karni looks forward to his trip down to Avalon every year. Avalon is the one place for him to escape. He escapes from the drama of Manhattan, but he mostly escapes from the pressure of his nagging mother. Summertime in Avalon means he gets to see his surfboard, his beach friends, and his favorite members of his family. When Zain sees Bela again, he starts to remember their relationship when they were kids, and he starts to remember why their relationship fell apart. As it oddly seems impossible for Bela and Zain to ever escape each other, they battle trying not to expose their feelings and family expectations. Mature content, read at your own risk.
