After he and the (breathing style) Hashira, Y/n L/n, encountered Upper Moon Three at the scene of the Mugen Train reck, Kyojuro has made it his mission to find Akaza and his lover. He had been left with a damaged eye, nothing else, and continued on with his work as a Hashira after his recovery.
His father and brother heard the news, and his father shamed him for not being able to protect his wife properly, and that she was only taken by Akaza because he was too weak. He then shamed her and called her an absolute idiot for ever accepting Kyojuro's proposal of marriage.
