Dive into the world before and after of WW II. Feel, how it was. Get a better understanding while enjoying Maria's adventure. 17y old Maria del Carmen Gonzales from Mexico, wants to make something out of her life, rather than only being someone in the shadow of a reputable husband. It is difficult for her to achieve her goal in a patriarchal society. Women have to stay at home taking care of the kids. She more and more adabts to this environment. She is learning how to work the men, but step by step her heart gets hardened. Killing someone to protect herself, is getting normal. Painfully, she learns, that she has to shoot first. Breaking the law to obtain money is something else she does frequently until it gets normal. Maria uses her smarts and her skills, to get what she wants. Doing so, puts her into an inner conflict of how much pain and hardship she inflicts on others to get there.
