Newt, a 17 year old, dedicated surfer once got bit by a shark.
When they announced his chances were low and the attack was probably fatal everyone who knew him, got scared of the California coast.
But when Newt survived, he was the only one who wasn't scared.
Well he was still quite terrified but he wanted to keep going, even though the constant reminder of the healed shark bite on his left leg, didn't help.
When Teresa saved Newt and he was all better, he introduced her bestfriend to him named, Thomas.
And they never knew they would get so close to each other.

{COMPLETE✓} "She's a strong one, this" continued the doctor "she's grown here, and that's toughened her up." She put a tube in through Teresa's mouth. "I wonder if she's strong enough to survive this as well." The nurse nodded quietly. "She'll do anything for Thomas. She always did." "That's right. The chances are really low but we have to do this." THIS STORY CONTAINS SPOILERS - So after Teresa was crushed and left to die I was really disappointed. To me, Thomas has become so selfish and I quite don't like him as a character after all that. And let's not talk about that page on the book where Newt's existence is blown off!
