Newt, a 17 year old, dedicated surfer once got bit by a shark.
When they announced his chances were low and the attack was probably fatal everyone who knew him, got scared of the California coast.
But when Newt survived, he was the only one who wasn't scared.
Well he was still quite terrified but he wanted to keep going, even though the constant reminder of the healed shark bite on his left leg, didn't help.
When Teresa saved Newt and he was all better, he introduced her bestfriend to him named, Thomas.
And they never knew they would get so close to each other.

Thomas and Newt decide to meet up, with some other friends, and investigate an abandoned building out in the middle of nowhere. The idea was Thomas' but if he'd known what was to come, both good and very, very bad, he may never have asked anyone to go. That would mean all of the close moments the two boys shared, like when they had lent in to kiss, would never have happened. The question was, would it have been worth it to call the whole trip off, when it would prevent Newt and Thomas from falling for each other but also stop the storm from causing so much pain for the boys? What if?
What if... Teresa never went with Thomas when she died, but instead, got the serum and went to try to save Newt without anyone knowing. Everyone would be gone to the Safe Heaven thinking Newt and Teresa are dead. But 1 month later, Newt woke up, healthy again and cured. Newt and Teresa then make a team to try and get back to the Safe Heaven where is everyone. This is an alternative end for The Maze Runner : The Death Cure (because I'm clearly still not over Newt's death and I'm so mad that they killed him, so yeah...)
