Afterlife holds all manner of beings: demons, imps, failed reapers with broken hearts.
Kameka Soul is the latter.
After failing out of reaper school and losing the love of her life, Kameka Soul's heart is all but broken. Spending her days laying on tear-stained pillows, she's quite sure that the world has forgotten her until a postcard presents itself in the mail. One that can talk.
This card leads her to the Folk and Kin, a retreat for the legendary creatures of Afterlife passed down through her family for generations. With the inn currently in the hands of her enigmatic grandmother, Kameka Soul is put to work fending off proposals from a headless old god, saving magical kittens from otherworldly rainstorms, and picking up cupcakes from a certain handsome weather witch.
Though sworn off of awkward flirting and surprise hand-holding, Gale Storm, weather witch and baker of sugary treats, helps Kameka break her pointless vow. And as the two draw closer, learning of each other's deeper wounds and helping to heal them, Kameka must make a choice: let go of an old flame, or be forced to throw water over a new one. For if she waits too long, the choice may no longer be hers to make.

Synopsis:
For 500 years, she has been condemned to suffer.
Clark Parker is reincarnated thirteen times, only to live a cruel life.
In her final life, she dies a Saint, and the Veil offers her release: a chance at peace, at bliss-rebirth without sorrow.
She refuses.
Clark doesn't want to come back. She wants answers.
But the truth she seeks lies deep within the Old Archives, a place forbidden to all but reapers. And she isn't one-not yet.
To become an envoy of death, she must destroy what remains of her grace and taint her soul.
And there is only one place to break a Saint: Hell.
There, among the ruined and the wretched, she will rise. Through torment. Through the ranks of demons, and ascend as a reaper.
But the closer she comes to the truth, the colder the world becomes.
Because some secrets are chained for a reason.
And some names should stay in the dark.
