You were a hopeless romantic, but after becoming a high schooler; your once naive outlook on love became lackluster. Riddled with anxiety, you decide that you should focus on yourself, instead of something that seems to make your heart grow rampant with uncertainty. It's the safest option for you.
After moving to Yukigaoka from Tokyo during your second year of high school, your plan so far is a success.

Disclaimer: Reader will be an anxious mess, but will learn to grow and go outside of her comfort zone. So if you find the beginning frustrating, it is framed to be that way on purpose. I like character growth, and I promise reader will "find the error" to her ways.
