Change happens with time. And time had definitely changed Loki especially having come to realize he didn't spend much of it to the best of his abilities. But even after messing up time and trying to fix it, there are still things he isn't prepared for.
Set in Phase 4 of the MCU (post Loki series & MoM). I don't own anything, this is just my head canon.
