A chessboard. A simple table consisting of sixty-four black and white tiles, a seemingly basic structure. Played on this board is a game called Chess, a war of brains, a battle of logic. Two sides face off, and only one prevails.
Kings, Queens, Bishops, Knights, Rooks, and Pawns. These are the roles of chess, each piece having their own unique moves at their disposal. they can sacrifice to achieve victory. they can take out another piece, sometimes getting away with it, or sometimes they will be taken out because of it.
Now, what if chess wasn't played with pieces but with people? A war of brains, a battle of logic. Where a blunder could mean the end of life. Where each person has a unique role that will affect the way they play.

I fall to the floor, but with enough concentration I manage to stand. "Why are you doing this?" I hiss, struggling to keep my balance.
"Most people think the most important piece on the chess board is the king, or the queen or the rook; some even think it's the bishop."
"You killed him, didn't you?"
"I like to think it's the pawn." He taunts, coming to stand in front of me. "Underestimated and yet the most dangerous...with a little patience it can become anything. Quite interesting, don't you think?"
"I'm not in the mood for your little mind games."
"Will you do as you're fucking told or are we going to have a problem?" He asks with barely restrained fury, his eyes holding mine captive, making it clear that I'm supposed to give him an answer.
"I guess we're gonna have a problem."
