What happens when a district 3 drop dead gorgeous girl, who also happens to have a genius IQ, is reaped for the 73rd annual hunger games. The same games that took her twin brother a year ago.
She's never had an issue with getting her hands a bit dirty, being the youngest and one of the best ammunitions engineers in all the districts.
But everyone around her seems to want her to use her body to win. Not her mind. Something she's never really tried to do before.
So for the first time ever, she has to flaunt her looks in order to form an alliance with the careers.
But if she survives to the end of the games, will she have proven that she's more than just a pretty face?
And what happens once the games are over?

Life for victors is still hard. Nobody wins the game; there are only survivors. Johanna knows that well since her win in the 68th game and her family suffering the consequence of her not bending the knee to the Capitol. She grew cold, distant, and snappy more than before, an angry woman, sending off two tributes to die each year, having stopped caring about anything since there was no one left to hurt to get to her. That was until the 71st group of tributes showed up, a boy and a girl born into the wrong district, to the wrong fate. They were told that as soon as their population increased than they would be entered into the Hunger Games. Only they didn't know it would be this soon. Peacekeepers stormed the mediocre town of District 14 where they announced that only one person every year, between the ages of 12 to 18, was to be entered into the Hunger Games. When Marlowe Ordell hears the announcement she fears for the life of her 12 year old brother. There was a 1 in 400 chance that he gets called and he'd be all alone. She never once thought about her own life until she was the one to be called. She runs into a Career Tribute who takes an interest to her.
