Nios is the board of education for open and distance learning system .
Established by the ministry of Human Resource development of government of India in 1989.
NIOS board is as similar as CBSE and CISCE.
Administers secondary and senior secondary examinations and vocational courses.
cumulative enrolment of about of 2.2 million students which makes it the largest open schooling system in the world.
examinations held twice a year month of April-may and oct -nov.
one can pass out within 45-50days by ode (on demand examinations).
failed student can also reappear with an opportunity of carrying -forward the marks of passed subjects.
