Nick Goode is the heir apparent to his fathers legacy, future Sheriff Goode, a Sunnyvaler through and through. He thinks he is just going to have another normal year at camp until he sees Maya. Then he can't help but be drawn to her. She's everything he's ever wanted. But then his father dies and throws something huge and dangerous in Nick's lap. Will his pain overpower his judgement? Nick will hurt the one person he loves the most with a few simple words.
Maya Slater is the younger sister of one of the most likable camp counselors at Camp Nightwing, Tommy Slater. A Shadysider through and through, Maya can't help but wish she could be more than that. Cursed by the town she's grown up in, Maya hopes this summer will bring her some real happiness. Then Maya meets Nick and her world turns upside down. They're the world to each other. Then Nick's dad dies and a wrench is thrown in everything. All she hopes for a is a calm, normal, peaceful summer at camp. But that never happens does it. Everything she holds dear will be gone with the swing of an axe. Will one fateful night change her forever?
