There was just the beginning, the middle, and the end. Young Corrie Akana's life never amounted to much, as it is hard for an 8 year-old to accomplish much besides what they are born with. And she was gifted with many things: strength, agility, and the ability to breathe underwater to name a few.
Sadly, her life comes to an unexpected cut-off when invaders begin killing her friends and family. And all for what? The short journey starts and ends here, or so they may think...

Those who were taken... They never came back, dragged beneath the waves never to return. Their haunting screams were a symbol of their horrific deaths. Like shadows they lay in wait, the deep blue waters hiding them from view. With sharp claws they attack, Pointed fangs tearing into skin, Eager mouths devouring human flesh. Cally was taken, dragged under the water by one of the vicious creatures. But she was not devoured nor torn apart by ruthless claws--no. She was a captive. ~•~ Water instantly invades her senses. Her eyes sting, her lungs and nose burning. She thrashes, kicks, claws--anything to get away. "The world around her swam with mottled light. How long had she been fighting?" So...in sixth grade we took this computer-skills class. Our final test was to write a short story in Microsoft Word. My story ended up fleshing out into the trilogy I am working on and planning to publish at somepoint in my life, but I realized how incredible my writing skill has improved between just the two or three years.
