From the book: Dragons at war...
The rest was a confusion of impressions. The dust lit up with a blazing reddish-yellow glow followed by a monstrous roar. A wave of heat swept over them. They continued to ride for a few moments, but they encountered a drift of overthrown horses and riders. Captain Baffen signaled a halt. Once the drumbeat of their horses hooves were silent, he heard a cacophony of shrieks and screams from all around. Another great gout of fire swept towards them, and the roar drowned out the heart-rending cries for help. This time they saw the fire as it swept towards them. They were in a shallow depression below the level of the rest of the plain, and the searing heat from the inferno swept just over their heads like a beacon from left to right. They started forward again, but a great wind followed the fire. It swept the dust away as they came onto level ground. That was when they saw the dragon.

WARNING: Cussing, Strong Violence and other Triggering Content may occur. Prologue Mercy ran down the narrow streets, moving her legs as fast as she could. Running from what? Well, she doesn't know. At least, not yet. The streetlamps began to flicker and a loud scream was heard from inside an alley. All she really knew at that moment was to run. Her town was being raided by these monsters on black horses.... they carried long black blades stained with blood and dark hoods covering their faces. They raced recklessly through the town on their dark mounts, slashing at anyone who stood in their way. Some of them even carried torches, using them to set houses and stores alight in flames. People ran everywhere, screaming and yelling for their lost family and friends. But Mercy continued running... she had to. Until she saw a little girl, no older than seven, sitting in front of a burning building, crying. Mercy slowed, then with hesitation, walked over to the girl, avoiding being seen by the raiding party. "Whats the matter with you? You need to get out of the open." She told her. "But- but i don't know where my mommy is." The little girl sobbed. Although Mercy had lost her mother when she was fourteen, she still remembers the feeling of helplessness. "Alright. Come on... Let's go try to find your mom." She sighed. A raider was drawing closer to them, so they had to hurry... and Mercy knew it. "Run." She whispered to the girl, who was oblivious to the approaching attacker.

"Let them go, Dante." I whip my head to see a small boy standing the clearing with blonde hair and a green cloak hanging from shoulders. He isn't very tall however he holds his stance well. He doesn't seem to be more than Cassandra's age. Maybe 12 at most. I abruptly turn my head back hearing the man holding a sword to my throat chuckling with a sinister grin. "Oh, poor boy, what are you go to do about it?" The yellow teeth gleam as he begins stalking towards the boy who does not look the least bit fazed. I look around at the other men who are following the leader. I pull Cassandra tighter to my back as I take small steps back. I keep my eye trained on the men but also fear for the naive boy. "Do you really want to test me Dante?" He asks raising a single eyebrow. For a minute the men stop their movements. I see their hesitation for fear... Fear of what? I take the moment to stick Cassandra behind a nearby tree. She crouches down while I pull my sword out from its place. "How do you know my name?" The scoundrel raises his sword challenging towards the boy before taking a final step towards him. Then the unexpected happens. The young boy chuckles so darkly. It sounded almost... demonic. All the men instinctively raise their swords. "Oh Dante, I didn't know your name... but you know someone dear to me." "Spit it out boy!" The once grinning man is now looking around frantically. I continue my eyes scanning the small boy. He looks directly me and gives me a small nod before saying one word that caused all hell to breaks loose. "Artemis." Artemis is not an ordinary girl. She grew up in the wilderness after being shunned due to unique abilities and her different physical attributes. Blessed with an ability that scared others, she roams the wild with only her guarded one. That is until she stumbles into a situation that brings her in front of a prince.

The Falcon Special Warfare was ordered to go to rescue, when Lu Zexuan saw a strange teenager in the basement full of debris. The young man was pale and thin, his beautiful black and red pupils did not react at all, and the palm-sized spirit body of a white fox was dying at his feet. -This is a badly injured guide. Lu Zexuan immediately took him back to the safe area for treatment. Within a few days, a number of mysterious officials died in the security zone. The Federal Investigation Department sent people to investigate but found out that these dead people had more or less intersected with the boy with different pupils. It's just that every time, when these people die, he has a perfect alibi. Lu Zexuan doubted Yu Ran's origin, in order to find out the truth, he submitted a matching application to the association and took Yu Ran with him. Soon, this news spread in the circle: "I heard that Lu Zexuan, an S-class sentinel, took a fancy to a C-class little guide?" "That guide is only 18 years old!" "General Lu really has a unique taste." At the federal banquet, the newly grown guide came followed by the tall general, looking innocent, pitiful and weak. Lu Zexuan subconsciously protected him from behind him. Until one day, the Falcon Special Combat Team was surrounded by murderous alien creatures, Lu Zexuan was seriously injured and on the verge of mental collapse. Before he lost consciousness, he saw the guide beside him stretching out countless spiritual tentacles towards the beasts. Yu Ran, who was usually simple and innocent, his gaze at that moment was decisive and sharp, his strong spiritual power made all monsters instantly surrender to his feet. He stepped over the corpse mountain and blood sea of the beasts, calmly walked to Lu Zexuan, and stretched out his hand towards the sentinel: "Do you need me to protect you, General Lu? For she knew it could ruin everything. It could cause the destruction of all she held dear. It was a knight. * * * Half of all proceeds of the Dragon novelettes benefit battered women's shelters. While this first book is non-explicit, due to the strong sexual content and adult situations in future books, this romantic suspense series is recommended for readers aged 17+. The series is structured for readers to read along as I write them to offer feedback and suggestions on the complex storyline. If you're the style of reader who would prefer to wait until the entire series is finished before you tackle it, that is fine! Simply wait until the series is complete and I'll offer the boxed set. I do that with all of my books. The reason I publish as I write is that I don't write full time and it can sometimes take months for me to finish up a storyline. There are readers who don't want to wait - who would rather read along as I go and stay engaged in the process. That way they can provide feedback and suggestions on the storyline. Whichever way works well for you, I provide an option. I'd love to hear from you at my website at OpheliaSikes.com.

Carter had been watching everything. He watched as his brother leaped at the Panther to protect him. He had watched as the anger had burnt out Max, and he had gotten control over the blade. He watched as his brother had been nearly killed by the monster. But he could do nothing but watch as the dark figure jumped at Carter. But he didn't kill him as Carter had first suspected. Instead he transformed mid-air and grabbed the bird before it took flight. And Brandon appeared behind him when Max and Carter landed on the ground. "Carter! Shift. He just wants answers and help. You have to shift." What Brandon said let Max get up and release the large bird. Carter didn't waste a second. He jumped up and flew away from Max, shifting into an Owl in air. Max watched as the shifting figure stuck its feet ahead of him. When he landed Carter was at the weapons rack, and pulling a red bow from the wall. "Where's the Lioness?" Carter said, as he turned around. "Right here," and Carter followed the sound to find a girl with waist length hair and red eyes. She sat on one of the electronic tables, and was hard to see, even with Carter's increased night vision. Without another word, he tossed her the bow and watched as she caught it. He watched as she hopped off the table and quietly walked around him and the scientists. He noticed a brooding figure approach Brandon out of the corner of his eye. "Okay, what would you like to know?" He said, acting like he was in charge. But Max smiled and replied. "Not here." GUYS! This has not been edited at all, so it is super choppy. I will repost the story after I edit it though.
