The sun rose from the east, it casted long, dark shadows throughout the temple. Flowers brought color to the otherwise colorless sanctuary, and a lone priestess stood in the golden light of the first sun. Her hands stayed folded infront of her chest as Apollo slowly continued to raise the sun. The light casted dark shadows on her face and the soft breeze caressed her cheeks. She stood tall, her dark skin contrasting the white marble of the temple around her. Had she known this was the last sunrise she would witness with full awe for thousands of years, maybe she would have kept her eyes open a few minutes longer. But she didn't know any better. She didn't believe she had any reason to fear. She thought her goddess would protect her, but protection came to late. The priestess in that temple would not trust anyone for years to come, would not show compassion for a thousand years, but what happens when a young girl decides to follow her blindly? _________________________________________ Hi, hello! Many forget that the goddess of love was born from the raging sea, but she would do anything to protect her daughter. Adora was Aphrodite's last daughter. Her mother kept her hidden. But, her mother isn't the only one who can keep a secret, especially in a world where your role in society is everything. For there was a prophecy long before she was born: 'Aphrodite's last child would be the one to take the throne, Her paternity unknown. They would carve her face and never forget, for she would be the most beautiful that they had met Cursed for the same fate as her mother Forced to leave her love for another The only way she shall break this curse is if she defeats the first' "Looks like the princess doesn't need saving after all." He says, quietly enough that no one else would hear, as he draws his hand away from my arm. I glare back at him. "Maybe she never did," I walk away, not sparing a single glance back, no matter how much my body was begging me to. I fuss over my hair, pouting as I run my fingers through it to put it back into place. *A warning note* I am not an expert on Greek Mythology, but it interests me greatly. Please excuse any inaccuracies in the book, but if there are any please do message or comment it and I will see if I can change it without making such a huge difference to the plot. Also, my main character is autistic and the experience will be different for everyone. I have tried my hardest to put down on paper how I feel and how I believe others see me. So, please be respectful about the decisions my characters make as I have chosen to give them many different types of neurodivergent brains. I have tried my best to represent these in the most accurate light whilst not romanticising them.
