Emlyn is a Level - C, dreading over the fact she's going to turn 15, because of the system of pairing teenagers with their work partner, who are also considered as each other's soulmates, but they can choose whether they'd like to live the rest of their life with them. Usually, an individual gets paired with another from the same Level. 

Emlyn gets a shocker when she gets to know she's paired with a different Level. To make it worse, it was none other than Zachary, the person she despised.  

But they both uncover some intriguing truth about their society that they live in.
