Baylor Beach

Makayla "Mack" Joan Pine has lived in Baylor Beach her whole life. She has the best of friends and she gets along well with everyone, but she isn't necessarily popular. She is well known but not really well liked by everyone. Her life was as close as perfect, however, and she wished she could live like that her whole life.

That was until one day, her closest friend disappears and is found dead a few days later in the water at Baylor Beach, and she doesn't know what to do. The police are saying it's a suicide, but Makayla knows deep down that it isn't like at all. She knows that her friend would never kill herself. She never even showed any signs that she was depressed. Makayla now gets looks of pity at school, flowers sent to her house, and cards telling her that they are "sorry for her loss". Mack accepts all the gifts with a kind smile, but she can't help but think that there IS something more behind the scenes, and she is ready to discover it.

Makayla makes a decision to try to solve what really happened to her best friend. She recruits her other friend and a few other people along the way, and they seek out to find the murderer. Mack gets closer and closer to the truth, but the killer also gets closer and closer to her. When another one of her friends goes missing, she begins to look closer to home than she ever would have before. The question is, can she get to the killer before the killer gets to her?
