The Seven Families of the supernatural world. The elite. The oldest. The originals. All settled down in New Orleans with control around the world. All at a war with each other. Over the years, some families have merged, been killed or wiped out of the playing field.
A group of college girls (Caroline, Hayley, Bonnie, Elena, and Davina) coming home for the summer, back to New Orleans only to have run into a wolf resulting in a car crash.
As Caroline awakes the next morning, she finds herself in a mansion meeting a new family, a family of five that call themselves The Mikaelsons. The Original Vampires with their hybrid half-brother as their leader, Caroline soon finds herself in the middle of the war that's been plaguing the families and New Orleans for centuries. She discovers just how deep her friends and herself go into the history of the war.
Along the way of her crazy journey of helping her friends and getting mixed up with The Mikaelsons, she can't help but feel a connection with the big bad hybrid, Niklaus.
Does he feel a connection too? And what happens with the rest of her friends as they discover romance along the way? Will the baby vampire be able to survive in the mansion and New Orleans knowing the place she grew up in is completely different?
