At a very young age, Wei Ying witness how his family was killed. He's actually very lucky that someone save him that time. Though, that event left a huge shadow to him. He was traumatised. It took him a years before he could say to himself that he did move on. However, it was all his wishful thinking. He couldn't forget everything that it became his biggest nightmare. He could barely sleep at night. And then he met this cold and clean freak Lan WangJi who he find to be an interesting person that he want to be close with him the first day they met. But to his surprised, he discovered that only with Lan WangJi he could feel at peace. Inside his embrace, he could sleep without having nightmares. He could feel secure that no one ever made him feel to anyone.

When the love curse hits Wei Wuxian, he isn't worried. He thinks it is a minor inconvenience, but quickly alleviated. Afterall the curse is solved purely on physical contact, so as soon as he touches his husband he'll be fine. It's honestly somewhat romantic. 'The touch of the one you love most will lift the curse mark from your skin.' So he isn't worried, until the curse doesn't lift, and he's left with the horrible, iron clad proof, that he does not love his husband. (The one where Wei Wuxian finds out that he apparently doesn't love his husband, and doesn't know how to handle the situation. It brings out every dark memory he had tried to escape from.)Complete
