Outer Banks based on a Netflix series. 
The book will spoil the series I just wanted to tell you before reading just in case you haven't watched it yet:)

John B's father went missing at sea. The police declared him dead after 3 months of searching. John B wouldn't believe them "he is out there somewhere I know it" he said. His mom left when he was just a little child so he was living on his own. Him, JJ, Pope and Kie/Kiara had this little friend group. They are pokes well not Kie she was just hanging out with them. Pope was the clever one. His dad didn't really like him hanging out with them but he did it anyways. We haven't heard anything about JJ's mom and his dad was a d*ck.
