در روزهای گذشته جریان اصولگرایی مواضعی حامیانه در دفاع از گروه شبه‌نظامی طالبان گرفته بود. روزنامه کیهان به‌تازگی مدعی شده بود طالبان تغییر موضع داده است و دیگر سر نمی‌بُرد. برخی نمایندگان اصولگرای مجلس هم در دفاع از طالبان از آنها به‌عنوان یک جنبش اصیل در منطقه نام برده بودند. با این‌حال جبهه پایداری با انتشار مطلبی به انتقاد از مواضع هم‌جناحی‌هایش پرداخته است.
