Darkness. It's all I can see. Wait, can you see darkness? I'm not sure. Come to think of it, I'm not sure of anything. I stand up slowly, a dull pain constantly throbbing in the back of my head. I look around in a hopeless attempt to see my surroundings. Nothing. With my arms held out in front of me like some kind of weird zombie, I walk forward. After about three steps my hand hit something. Cool metal. Keeping my hand in the wall I walk to my left. A box. I'm in a small, metal box. I sit down and draw my knees to my chest. Yep, just chillin out in me box. I have little to no sense of time but after what must be about ten minutes the box shudders. A piercing screech fills the air. Slowly, with much noise, the box begins to rise. I jump to my feet, nearly face planting in the process, and struggle to gain my balance. With a hand on the wall to steady my self I pound on the walls. Screaming. Screaming louder than ever before in my life. I think. I can't remember my life before. I can't remember anything. My earliest memory is waking up in this box.

  • Running into danger | Thomas T.M.R

She was from Group B. They called her an "original," one of the first thrown into the Maze and left to survive. Escape was never part of the plan. Not for her. Not after everything she'd seen. But somehow, they made it out. Now, she's been relocated to a so-called Safe Haven-a sterile facility that is said to be their reward for surviving. But nothing about it felt like a reward. Aris, the only other survivor from her group, doesn't trust a word they say, and after a new group of boys bursts in with warnings of lies, manipulation, and something far worse lurking beneath the surface, neither does she. One of the boys stands out amongst the chaos. There's something in the way he looks at her. It's like he's seen the same horrors, like he understands her in a way no one else has. And no matter how much danger they're in, she can't seem to stay away. The deeper they dig, the clearer it becomes: escaping the Maze was just the beginning. • • • {Published 3-10-18} {Completed 9-19-18} {Started Editing 11-13-22} {Finished Editing 07-07-25}
