Nicholas is a 16 year old boy who loves almost nothing more than some uplifting music, walks in the forest near town he knows he shouldn't enter, and his father. There's nothing strange about him except the fact he was raised by only his father as his mother had died when he was 4 and his older sister drowned when he was 6. He and his father had however moved on but still loved them very dearly and missed them only sometimes. He however accepted this and continues to live life as normally and successfully as he can manage, he is an A+ student as well! But... however.. things start getting stranger and stranger as his 17th birthday draws steadily closer

The Darkness of Beasts and Men
This is a short story about a young man and an incident he (somewhat) overcomes. This is a werewolf story, yes, but not a cliche-d one I hope, as it includes much more unhappiness and gore and such. There is no swearing, no nasty in-bed stuff, but there is gore. I mean, animal-mauling-blood-everywhere gore. Sorry, but in a werewolf reality, it would be rather dark and disturbing. If you do not like those things, please do not read for your own sake. Other than that, mild humor included. He was supposed to find his mate at age 16, but he hasn't. His wolf, Sol, has been saying he feels like the werewolf females are not his type. And when his parents allow him to meet werewolf males, he still doesn't feel any connection to any of them. When he sees a small male human brought forcefully into the pack, he suddenly feels something he hadn't felt before. A mate's connection. But, how would Will's pack react to having a human alpha?
