I came to the Outer Banks expecting a summer of sunburns, surf, and my cousin's ridiculous Kook parties. This story follows childhood friends, Max Parrish and Pope Heyward, along with the fellow pogues, John B Routledge, JJ Maybank and Kiara Carrera, looking for lost treasure. How will the pogues manage to stay out of trouble, mange personal and family issues and follow the rule "no pogue on pogue macking" all whilst searching for treasure that becomes more and more personal the further they dig? Max comes from a troubled family which, once upon a time, were the kindest set of pogue parents the Heyward's had seen. After the loss of Max's brother, Peter, her parents became lost and started to blame their daughter. Since Max had always been close to the Heyward's, they would let her stay whenever she wanted to without questioning why. On the inside Max is grieving and vulnerable but on the outside she is brave and determined to do whatever it takes to protect her friends no matter the cost because she has 'nothing to lose'. JJ and Max have always had a different relationship with each other compared to the others. And whilst they knew this, they continued to push away their feelings no matter how apparent they were. Deep down they both thought the rule was stupid anyway. What if the pogues were originally a group of 5, but one of them mysteriously died when they were 15. After John B and Sarah escape the island and find their way to Nassau they meet up with an old friend who will help them on their journey to get back and clear John B's name. Logan Pierce, the fifth member of the pogues died when she was 15 almost two years before Big John went missing, Hurricane Agatha, The Gold and the murder of Sheriff Peterkin.
