We see everyday how kids try and fit it. They would do anything for someone to just look at them. But whats too far? That word doesnt occur to them. Im a teenager that has seen these things happen. Our daily life revolves around talking and listening to the noise that complexes into our ears. So when someone "Cool" or "popular" talks about drugs or alcohol they think this could be there one chance on fitting in with them. But its not, they only think of the positive side of it but the negative is overdosing and dying or having too much alcohol and dying. Drugs are a common thing around High schools maybe even middle schools. I will start with the drug marijuana. The short-term effects of marijuana include immediate, temporary changes in thoughts. The cognitive process most clearly affected by marijuana is short-term memory. In laboratory studies, subjects under the influence of marijuana have no trouble remembering things they learned previously. However, they temporarily display diminished capacity to learn and recall new information. This diminishment only lasts for the time of the use. There is no convincing evidence that heavy long-term marijuana use permanently messes with your memory or other cognitive functions. A recent, large-scale, longitudinal study of adult marijuana users corroborates earlier finding that marijuana produces no long-term negative effects on cognition, stating, "The adverse impacts of cannabis use on cognitive functions either appear to be related to pre-existing factors or are reversible . . . even after continued periods of use." However, it is not recommended that adolescents use marijuana unless under the care of a physician, as some research suggests potentially negative cognitive effects for adolescents who use marijuana.
