Quick note! Yes, this story is based off of the many SCP-001's that there are, but instead of it being one of the entities I'm going to write it off of the event, When Day Breaks. If you don't know what that SCP is or what SCP's are in general, I recommend looking into it.
There might be more SCP based things in this, but I'm going to try as much as possible to explain everything in the story as the characters learn more about 001, and if I miss anything I will explain about it more after the story is done.
Bee and Bat are 10 year old girls living in a simple, safe and familiar suburban neighborhood. Everything is normal, as always. Nothing is out of place and suddenly one day there are scientists in weird lab coats saying to not go outside. After their mother doesn't return home and they start... Seeing things outside, they go on an adventure and meet a group of castaways, filled with scientists, escaped prisoners, mysterious entities, and just ordinary people.
(Do not mention the cover, I'll make a actually good one when the book finishes.)

I could have killed you!" He says and starts to walk towards me. I take a big breath and step back away from him, "s-stop! Axel," I stutter still panting. It's then he notices the blood on my hands and shirt. "Is that blood?" He asks staring at my shirt and I take another step back. "Stop, stay b-back," I try to say confidently but I can't even breath right. Realizing he won't listen I start to turn around planning to make a break for it. A strange-looking contraption is seen rapidly falling from the sky. Its descent was calculated and precise...until it wasn't. Halfway after entering the green and blue planet's atmosphere, it started burning up, rendering some of its parts unusable. Inside this burning contraption are a bunch of...kids. These kids numbered a hundred, have ages ranging from 12 to 17. And as for why they are all strapped inside this burning 90-year-old dropship heading to the ground...Well, it all started at the end. Ninety-seven years ago, a nuclear apocalypse struck the Earth, leaving the planet simmering in radiation. But of course, the human race was a stubborn one. At the time of the bombs, twelve nations had operational space stations that they used to house survivors. Later, these twelve stations banded up and merged, becoming the one we now know as The Ark. For many years now, The Ark has kept what's left of humanity alive. But about a year ago, an engineer discovered a huge problem in the Ark's system. The Ark's life support systems are failing, and it won't be long before they run out of air and die. Hence, the current situation. These kids are being sent on a desperate mission to see if the ground is survivable again. But why kids though? Won't it be better to have the more capable scientists or guards be the ones to take this risk? 100 years ago, amidst WW3's nuclear bombing, a deadly virus was released in the atmosphere and nearly wiping out the humanity. It lives inside the human brain thriving on the empathy receptors, leading to irrational behaviour and ultimately brain death. To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages.
