Gemma Kane is just another minor rebel doing time in the sky box.

Awaiting that ominous birthday when her crimes are reviewed and she's either set free... or set loose.

The fact that within a few months she's likely to be floated away to die in the cold airless space around them, has her vigilant.

Locked away since fifteen for a crime she can't bring herself to regret. She's had a lot of time to reflect on things. And that time has changed her greatly, that and the incidents that followed her arrest.

Her heart is compassionate, as well as bruised and scared by past betrayals. she shows her strength by ignoring that pain and keeping up a careless if not sometimes cold exterior.

The daughter of what was commonly assumed to be the next chancellor of the ark.
Councilman Kane whom she stood by unwavering.

The girlfriend of the current chancellor's son whom she loved undying.

And the youngest medical apprentice the ark had ever seen.

At only fifteen she was already working surgery under the skillful hand of her best friends mother, abbey.
