Adam Davenport was so excited. His girlfriend of a year, Sadie Evans, was finally coming out to Mission Creek to attend Emmie's mom's wedding! He had all these big plans to show her around his hometown, to take her out on as many dates as he could, and to finally have her with him after the war. The whole world had finally calmed down for a moment, and he couldn't wait to share this opportunity with Sadie.
But then she ran away. Adam knew that Sadie struggled in his huge and wild family, that she didn't quite know them, but this was the perfect way to introduce her to the people who raised him! He understood that his family was a lot to take in, especially since her own family was a hot mess. Adam didn't know where to find Sadie, but he had to find her quick or else he was going to miss the wedding.
Adam never pictured himself to be on a wild goose chase around Mission Creek the night of the wedding, but he also never pictured himself settling down with a girl -- or that a girl would ever be interested in him in the first place. By exploring his hometown, he was able to explore his emotions about Sadie and his family, knowing that his whole life revolved around them. In the end, Adam knew he had found his forever, and he couldn't wait to start living it.
