After the unexpected death of his brother, Nicholas was thrust into his position and became a man people despised. Nick didn't want this role, but the curse would take hold of his people without him. Nick made hard decisions, but it would never prepare him for the most challenging choices yet to come. Evelyn thought she had it all, that she knew what her future held. Just like most females of her kind. She would find and marry her mate if he didn't choose one of his others. She refused to accept that she could become a rejected childless female, always having to be on the move. All Eve wanted was a loving mate who cared for her and their children. She didn't wish to follow in her father's footsteps and become a leader in a pointless war. Nicholas realized that Evelyn was one of his choices long before Eve was ever aware. This made it more accessible, taking her as his own. Nicholas came intoxicated by this she-wolf before forcing himself to move on to his next choice. What happens when Evelyn finally realizes who he was supposed to be? How will she come to terms with the truth and the reality of her situation?

I never pitied anyone, because the grass wasn't greener on this side either. But the one woman I felt bad for all my life was the unknown mate of the man who is getting engaged to his pregnant girlfriend today. I could hear the music coming from the engagement party happening a few yards from where I was. As I lay on the cold hospital bed, I didn't know if I should laugh or cry at the irony of the moon goddess's 'gift' for me. Turns out the woman I pitied all my life was ME. ________
