Once Upon a Bard's Song

In the West of Madra region in Kamboj Mahajanpad lies the small Kingdom called Upganasthan, where the veil between the worlds is the thinnest and Apsaras, Gandharvas, Yakshas, Nagas and Kinnaras roam freely. The kingdom is mourning the sudden death of its beloved king Ajatashatru and is under the threat of attack by neighboring warring tribes known as Mlecchas who make captured women and children their sex slaves and mutilate the bodies of captured men. But twenty-one years old Saranya has entirely different set of problems to deal with. She kills Gandharvas for a living, who have suddenly grown antagonistic towards humans in recent years and began killing humans. An expert in Sankhyashastra, her heart lays in listening and telling stories and all she wants is to live the life of a bard. But being a bard neither brings the mudras nor glory.

The worst thing for Saranya is to always be alert to never cross the paths with the fearsome king of Gandharvas, King Sahasya who gives every enemy a terrifyingly painful before he can even blink.

The Queen of Upganasthan who everyone looks upto is slowly losing her mind, as Mlecchas are coming closer to the kingdom border and there's no one to stop Gandharvas' murdering spree.
