A year after Dream was defeated, people made stories about the man in the smiley face mask who was blamed and turned into something he wasn't, and statues were made in honour of the 'Villain',

Wilbur and Techno were never the same, one killed his rival and the only one that could match his strength and the other had watched his brother kill the one he loved,

Dream's family rarely showed their faces anymore, everyone knew of the family in the woods but no one had ever seen them since The Final Battle, the only people who talked to them anymore were the SBI and George,

Wilbur had revived all the dead and they had started celebrating the victory of Techno and Wilbur,

But one day, on the one year anniversary of Dream's death something happened, something happened that shook everyone who was at The Final Battle

The boy lowered his knife, tilting his head. A taunting gesture that Dream commonly used. "Did you catch him?" Thanatos looked away and Seiren busied himself with his hair. Icarus glared at both before turning back to the masked boy. "No... he got away." The masked boy's head tilted down. Thanatos and Seiren readied themselves to hear regret and terror, just like everyone else they freed from Dream's grasp. Instead, the boy let out a sinister chuckle. "Good." AKA Dream being a terrible person and SBI being decent human beings. ALSO! His clothes are torn and dirty, and he wonders what happened. He's not hungry, but he wants a small snack, yet every apple tree and every berry bush he passes doesn't strike his fancy. He eventually makes it to a city. Large buildings are fallen over and the ones still standing have busted out windows and/or have smoke and fire coming from them. He can hear distant screams and yells and gunshots. There are people passing him that are strange. They're badly injured and walk slightly hunched over. Some are missing limbs, and some are missing and eye, or both. They don't even appear to be alive to the boy. They look his way but don't mind him. Tommy is confused and scared. He can slightly remember this place to be his once home, and it makes him upset that's it's gone to such shit, and scared by everyone's screams and the fires and the fighting, and mostly, the fact that some people are eating each other.
