I woke up in a metal box, screaming for help, only to find myself surrounded by boys who didn't know I was a girl. My name-my past-everything was gone. They called me Jules, a newcomer to the Glade, a place where everyone has a role, every day is a test, and the Maze waits beyond the walls, shifting and deadly. With Newt guiding me, Minho catching my eye, and the other boys watching my every move, I have to learn fast: survive the rules, find my place, and maybe, just maybe, discover who I really am.

"We are never getting out of here are we," I said to my best friend without the slightest bit of hope. "Come on, Teddy. Don't think like that," he says trying to reassure me. I notice him fidgeting with his hands, knowing I'm probably right. We are both standing on the Watch tower, leaning over the railing. I look across the Glade. I study the people and my surroundings. I remember when I first met Newt. Two young kids finding their way out of the Maze. We protected each other at all costs. We still do. They've seemed to have tried everything, and loosing her friends is her worst nightmare. But when the opportunity is open to leave, thanks to Thomas, will they take the chance to get out? He rubbed the back of his neck, "You keep surprising me, Greenie. It's... just history now." He played absentmindedly with his fingers. "Why do you ask? You uh... have a thing for her?" "Gally would happily filet me if I did." I joked. He laughed but didn't seem fully at ease. "No. I don't have a thing for her, she's a friend." He nodded, with a silent radiant of pleasure. I broke and asked him about her, "Is it really history? I mean... ever since I noticed you two together now I can't stop noticing it. She walks into a room and I feel like I have to remind you to breathe." He pulled a chair over and straddling the back of it. "You know when you're running through the maze and you're almost finished, you can see the glade and you have all this built up adrenaline? You're sore, tired, sweaty but you still feel the last bit of energy to get you home? That's what I feel whenever I'm around her. It's like every nerve in my body wants to wrap around her but I also teetering on the verge danger that would come with that."
