Droughty, wildfires, hunger and war are all the reasons why in the not too distant future United states of America finally collapsed. Form the ashes rose a new governance, dystopian nation of Panem, divided into 12 Districts. Each District had its own purpose or rather resources with which they equip the Capitol and in return they get protection and order. That system worked for a while, but eventually the Districts rose against the Capitol because of the poverty that prevailed within their teritory. Districts failed in that attempt, and that was when Panem created the Treaty of Treason:

"In penance for their uprising, each district shall offer up a male and a female between the ages of 12 and 18 at a public "reaping". These tributes shall be delivered to the custody of the Capitol. And then transferred to a public arena, where they will fight to the death until a lone victor remains. Henceforth and forevermore this pageant shall be known as The Hunger Games."

It was Lucas Tomlinson's first time on the public reaping and he just happened to get picked. Louis Tomlinson, being his older and much more capable brother, decided to valiantly volunteer in his place. Unfortunately, he will be forced to face his childhood friend; Spencer Hastings. Both of them were chosen as the representatives of District twelve for the seventy-fourth Hunger Games. The children raised in poverty will be pampered for two weeks before the games, enjoying the luxuries of the capitol to serve as an entertainment to the citizens of Panem's heart... But Louis' attention will be elsewhere. Somewhere around the curly-haired representative of District three.

In the rugged woodlands of District 7, fate dramatically alters the lives of Hazel Marlowe and her younger brother when they are both selected during the reaping for the 15th Annual Hunger Games. Senator Coriolanus Snow, ambitious apprentice Gamemaker under the notorious Dr. Gaul, has his eyes set on the presidency. Determined to make this year's Games unforgettable, he sees a unique opportunity in Hazel's tragic story. As Hazel fights to protect her brother, she must also contend with Snow's mysterious behavior. It isn't long before she realizes that the Hunger Games isn't the only game being played. ~ The intensity of his scrutiny felt like a physical weight, pressing against her with an almost suffocating force. Then his piercing stare softened into a smile, one so well-crafted and timed it seemed nothing less than a rehearsed performance. She was walking a fine line by challenging a man who held her and her brother's fate in his elegantly gloved palms. With long strides, he closed the distance between them. His gloved hand took hers. The softness of his touch clashed violently with the dread coiling in her stomach. He leaned closer, the warmth of his breath against her ear contradicted the chill his presence invoked as he whispered, "Be careful, Miss Marlowe." ⚠️ This is a Hunger Games fanfiction after all, so it will definitely have moments of violence, death and possibly self harm. **This is a fan-created work inspired by Suzanne Collins' "The Hunger Games" series. Far into the future of humankind, there existed a country named Panem, which occupied what was once North America. It consisted of thirteen districts and one cruel, powerful Capitol that ruled them. But after the rebellion of Katniss Everdeen, Panem became a scattered country of chaos and, after several years of struggling and failing to found a new government, wore away into extinction. One hundred years later, Panem rose up out of the ashes and conquered all of Europe, establishing their own land there and naming themselves New Panem. To honor the ways of their original country, New Panem brought back the Hunger Games and started where they had left off—the 76th Hunger Games. About 50 years later, New Panem is thriving. In District 4, 12-year-old Sandi Coin (a descendant of President Coin) is living the good life—until her first reaping. When Sandi gets chosen to participate in the 130th Hunger Games, she knows her life is going to turn upside-down—and come to its end. And as she travels around the Capitol to participate in the events before the Games, Sandi finds herself in the midst of many odd characters—an over-enthusiastic mentor, a grumpy stylist, a murderous accompanying tribute, three kind friends, a cute boy, and a hostile group of killers—who are not who they seem to be. Meanwhile, Sandi faces problems of her own during and before the Games, and soon she is not sure who she really is. Will she be able to survive the horrifying Hunger Games, or will she let her troubles lead her to her doom? Entry for the #asawritcon

In a Panem that followed a history different from what we know. In such a world, tributes are pulled from the same pool, and so in addition to being reaped, sometimes you just know you don't have a chance; two boys from District 2 would plow through the rest, and all you can do is cry. ---------------------------------------------------------- She lived in 12 for generations of her family but not in the filth, nor was she in a family of victors. No. She was the child of peacekeepers, she was trained to fight, special schools for them, and even her name only being once in the reaping bowl as she grew no matter what she did. People like her would be 12's future peacekeepers, raised and trained on site for generations of their families to be sure they know all there is to know about the district they'll keep in check. ---------------------------------------------------------- She grew up in 12, in the poorest part of 12. She'd hunt for her family with her friend and would exchange some wild game with the on and off boyfriend she had, son of the baker. Her life was hard. And so she watched with envy those kids that got fed for nothing, taught to handle themselves so that in the future they could control them. ------------------------------------------------------- How will life turn out if two of these people get to meet under different lights, in the 74th arena of the Hunger Games?
