She would much rather exchange her sewing needle for a sword, the thimble that protects her thumb for a true shield to protect her body, but she is left, as always, to sew, sew, sew.

It's not that she thinks sewing is bad - she finds herself rather in awe of those who can complete thick bands of embroidery on swathes of fabric. It's as easy as breathing for them, yet her own worst enemy.

Long ago, she had been allowed to fight. When she was younger and her father alive. She had told him, "I want to be like you, to win back our family's honour," and he had replied "when you are old enough, Elena." Her father had never been able to refuse her anything.
