Dr. E. Margaret Savage (nee Strang) was my great-aunt. She was a remarkable woman in her days and she is now an inspiration to me. She was the third female graduate of UWO’s Medical School in 1929 and was the only female in her class. Great-Aunt Margaret later became a missionary doctor and pastor in the Peace River area of Alberta, Canada. She considered life as an adventure and wrote memoirs of her pursuits and accomplishments.

We both grew up in the same old stone house on the Strang family farm in Hurondale, Ontario, Canada 
(in Huron County near Exeter). Our house was built by my great-great-grandfather roughly 170 years ago and is made of colourful field stones.  

This is my tribute to Great-Aunt Margaret. I'll share some of her stories and a few of my own.All Rights Reserved

Mpho and I have been together for eight years and married for six. We met in my third year of varsity.I was twenty one and he was twenty two. We became friends as he and my best friend's boyfriend, who is currently her husband, are best friends. I wasn't looking for a relationship. He just happened. I had broken up with my childhood boyfriend of seven years.(Yes! I said seven years but that's a story for another day) back to Mpho and I ,we built everything From scratch, the company he works for my provident fund helped him start it up with his best friend KG. I used to work as an Account at Investec Bank, I graduated with cum laudes, so I was headhunted, the world was my oyster. I wanted to go to New York and work in Wall Street for a few years then settle down. Mpho had different plans. He proposed marriage and told me nothing will change,silly naive me fell for that.I turned down New York because what kind of wife leaves her husband for a year unattended,who's going to cook for him ,clean for him and take care of his needs they said.Like I was some live in maid. Mxm!! He asked me to quit my job when business was doing well. We wanted to start a family and we were not getting lucky. He convinced me that it's my job thats giving me stress and if I was more relaxed we would probably conceive.That however was also not the case,we have spent over 800k on medical bills trying insemination and tests but we have not been lucky. My mother, as a prayer warrior, has taken me to church for prayers. Nothing happened.Other than Mpho's family giving me names and his mother disrespecting me and degrading me in front of other family members. My husband had failed to protect me or reparmend them. Instead now he has also joined in on the abuse.

"I am sorry we couldn't save the baby." I got shocked hearing the doctor's words. "Wh-at do you me-an doctor...by bab-y..." I shuttered in fear where my heart is beating wildly inside my chest. Doctor furrowed her brows listening to my words "Yes Mr.Shekhawat your wife was four week pregnant.Didn't you knew?" I got froze at my place listening to her.My breath get stucked in my lungs. I parted my lips to get some air feeling suffocated. "What have I done?" I thought to myself and falled on my knees feeling weak all of sudden. My heart is wrenching in agony where my mind is numb... Doctor tapped my shoulder before walking away but I am still at the Same position. I can feel my cheeks getting wet with tears and my breathing turned heavy too. "M..my baby" I mumbled to myself when I felt someone pulled up my body with jerk before giving me a hard slap. Due to which my face turned in the other direction. I looked in front of me only to meet with two fierce eyes. "Are you happy now." I didn't said anything coz nothing left for me to say anything in my defense. Reagan Renne Walker left the tiny town that she grew up in in Wyoming five years ago to fulfill her dream of opening an equine therapy ranch in Montana & to start a new life. Reagan's parents died when she was just seven years old. Mallory, Reagan's older sister, was still too young to care for both herself and her sister. As a result, Reagan and Mallory were forced to live with their grandparents. Mamaw and Papaw Walker sent both girls through school and college. Reagan never imagined leaving Wyoming. However, after her unexpected relationship with Swayde, her childhood best friend, and love of her life, took a turn for the worst, all Reagan could think about was that she couldn't get out of Wyoming fast enough. Swayde is your typical, rugged cowboy. His smile was enough to melt any girls heart, his eyes made it seem like the sun was always shining, even in the worst storm, his square jaw line accented his dark beard, his body thick with muscles. His physical features and build were intimidating at times, and didn't always match his laid back, easy going, gentlemanly personality. Swayde never thought he would fall for feisty Reagan, and even more so, Reagan never thought that she would fall for him. They end up in this unexpected whirlwind relationship, and everything is hunky dory until Reagan finds out a secret from Swayde's past that would forever change the way she looked at him; a secret he kept from her for over ten years. Confiding in her grandma, Reagan finds out that her grandparents knew the secret all along too. How could the people she thought loved her hurt her so bad and keep this big of a secret from her for so long? When tragedy strikes back in Wyoming, Reagan is forced to move back to the town she swore she would never step boot in again, thus leaving her new life in Montana behind. This kind of subject is and has been an open wound on me for 3 years it is no walk in the park for me to think about nevermind reminding myself of what my Aunt went through the last 5 years she had. This wasn't a rewrite or a storyline that was given on GH but for me it was a way to let go of my Aunt and what she went through so she could rest in peace 🕊️.
