Danielle Walker is a sixteen year old girl. After her father passed away three months ago of a type of thyroid cancer, she starts helping out in her mother's primary school during the beginning of summer to keep her mind off it. It's a generally boring job. Reading little stories, sometimes babysitting, helping kids make arts and crafts. That is until she has to babysit ten year old Ben Jones for three hours every Thursday. Ben's like an ordinary ten year old. He enjoys Star Wars, dinosaurs and playing video games. But he's different. He has leukemia, a type of blood cancer.

16 year old Harley Jenson has never had an easy life. With an alcoholic, drug addicted, abusive father; a mother who couldn't be bothered to pay attention because she was always too focused on Harley's 5 year old twin brother and sister; no friends, no one to confide in, no one to trust.
