Danielle Walker is a sixteen year old girl. After her father passed away three months ago of a type of thyroid cancer, she starts helping out in her mother's primary school during the beginning of summer to keep her mind off it. It's a generally boring job. Reading little stories, sometimes babysitting, helping kids make arts and crafts. That is until she has to babysit ten year old Ben Jones for three hours every Thursday. Ben's like an ordinary ten year old. He enjoys Star Wars, dinosaurs and playing video games. But he's different. He has leukemia, a type of blood cancer.

From the beginning we see a 17 year old boy, struggling to finish high School, filled up with insecurities, mental health issues, a toxic family home, and impossible standards to live up to. He has learn to not only hate his life, but to want finish it off as fast as possible. Close to finally graduating high school his English teacher, Mr Steve, assigns the class a special progect. "To be able to see life through different eyes, and write about it." For this, Mr Steve gets his class to assist a hospital 3 times a week, and assigns each student, with a patient. This is the moment where this boy meets Royal, a cancer sick 17 year old girl, that has lived in a hospital her hole life, but still finds beauty and meaning in it. Through out the report the boy gets more and more involved in Royal's life, spending unfortunately moments together. But through out the journey he asks himself more and more.
