Darkness never dies...

After the destruction of the shadow fold, a new terror emerged. As if darkness and death had bled into the very soil, the area where the fold had been became a large stretch of barren land where nothing could grow or live. Death spread to anything that touched the soil.

The Lantsov line's rule was marked by great cooperation between the first and second armies in an attempt to conquer their new common enemy. But centuries have since passed and the Grisha have once again become objects of horror to be hunted down and either killed or made mindless slaves...

All seemed lost until in a experiment gone horribly wrong made something miraculous happened.

Ayla is thrown into an exciting, often cruel world where she has to navigate shifting alliances, grand adventure and her own confusing feelings for a dark figure who toys with her heart like he can play with his shadows.

"What, you thought I was the black sky so you could be the star ?" His voice carried so much bitterness

I met his gaze with equal anger and refused to look away.

He gently put his hand in the nape of my neck before roughly pulling me closer. He lent closer "I'll swallow you whole." his dark voice whispered

"I hate you." I hissed meeting those agonizing quartz eyes again.

"Then hate me." he said before kissing me passionately.

At first I wanted to pull away. With a shock I realised I was kissing him back, viciously biting at his lower lip.
