This is a short story, some what religious, it was a contest entry for my private school (It's Christian), so if you don't really care about religious things, over view this, cause I used this story to bring attention to depression and how others can change this. If you do read this, take into consideration the many who have not had the chance to meet someone to comfort them in their darkest times and decided to end the pain. Many lives have been lost to suicide, so please note those people as soldiers who fought harder battles than anyone, they fought bravely against their own demons. So take remember and never forget the depressed and the people who lost their lives to depression. Also this does deal with a fatal car crash, so if you do not like the theme of that, I suggest not reading. This story is a little under 2400 words due to that being the maximum of the contest word amount. Enjoy.

Why do bad things happen to good people? A question that his boy is making himself more then ever this days. From the beginning we see a 17 year old boy, struggling to finish high School, filled up with insecurities, mental health issues, a toxic family home, and impossible standards to live up to. He has learn to not only hate his life, but to want finish it off as fast as possible. Close to finally graduating high school his English teacher, Mr Steve, assigns the class a special progect. "To be able to see life through different eyes, and write about it." For this, Mr Steve gets his class to assist a hospital 3 times a week, and assigns each student, with a patient. This is the moment where this boy meets Royal, a cancer sick 17 year old girl, that has lived in a hospital her hole life, but still finds beauty and meaning in it. Through out the report the boy gets more and more involved in Royal's life, spending unfortunately moments together. But through out the journey he asks himself more and more. I still don't know why you left and what lead you to the decision you made. What I do know is that we're here. We're alive and we're pushing forward to the future. A future that you're not a part of.
