Artemis Valkyrie Anders, (Her "slave name") is a bright, young woman with a lot of experience in being anything but ordinary. At the age of 2, she was stamped with a label that would later on let her parents and other family members down, not so gently. The word prodigy never meant much to her, but to everyone else she'd ever come in contact with, it meant that she was destined to do glorious things with her ability to comprehend and retain information that others, easily could not. She felt like these glorious things that she was supposed to do were nothing less than her biggest burden, as her age ascended through the teen years. When her 25th year of life swung around, marking the graduation of her final course of University that she had an interest in taking, she broke the news to her parents that, despite her multiple degrees in everything from Chemistry (Bio and Geo), Computer science, human ecology, integrative biology, Mathematics, Molecular bioscience, Neuroscience, and physics to music and American Literature, she wanted an interesting, fun, under-the-radar job. Her parents disowned her, having her belongings removed from their home immediately. To most, this would have been tragic, but Val (the name she went by) was ecstatic to be free of their disappointment in her. Now, all she needed to do was ace her job interview and life would be, suddenly, what she had always wanted. Or, so she thought. What if what she thought she wanted wasn't her being truthful to herself? Well, she'll find out soon enough.
