Though the sirens enjoy their peaceful life on their new, lone island, food is growing scarce, resources are becoming more limited, and with no males in the species, reproduction is impossible. Ember has broken the rules before. She has swam to the human shores and seen humans. Unfortunately, it's not all the glamor that fairytales boast. She returns to the sea, battered and bloody, but her battle is over. Until she is chosen to go back to the humans. She is elected to marry a prince in need of a wife and strengthen bonds with the humans again, but the world she sees is worse than the one she fled from.
